GEOCACHING

Well everyone we're really starting to settle into our Physical Education program. We began the year with some fitness activities, name games and rubber chicken activities to ease into the program. I enjoy using different games to keep people active. I will definitely have more of these games in future classes. Currently, we are moving to more traditional activities with the grades 6&7's participating in Soccer activities and the 8's learning about softball.

Thanks for all the great ideas and activities that you have sent... please keep those ideas coming. I cannot fit them into the program at this moment, but I will try and fit them at some point during the year.

Remember my expectations:
  1. Be prepared with proper gym clothing (T-shirts, shorts, track pants, sweatshirts)
  2. Participate - try everything I have set for you.

Here is a new activity that you should try. I'm going to try and purchase a few GPS's for our school so that we can try this with our students. It's a great individual, partner or family activity that gets you outdoors and active. My family and I just started this a few weeks ago and we love it. It's called GEOCACHING! Did you know that there are over 1700 hidden treasures around the Fredericton area.

I have a video clip from youtube that will explain this much better than I can.

To register go to http://www.geocaching.com/! This is a great family activity. The only down fall is that you do need a GPS but you can find a decent 2nd hand one for around $50-60. For a second hand one try http://www.kijiji.com/ and then type Fredericton (for our area) and look under computers. If you go to www.GPScentral.com you can also find some great deals on GPS units. ENJOY and Happy geocaching!
